According to a statement by the Magyar Szociális Fórum, 25 people have frozen to death in Hungary since autumn.
The number who froze to death in November this year grew two-fold over last year, but the December figures to date for this year are much lower than in 2014 (probably owing to unseasonably warm weather).
Of the 25 people who froze to death this year, 11 died out in the open, 7 died in their own unheated homes and 7 perished on their way to (or upon arrival) to hospital. The youngest victim was 33 years old. The oldest was 77.
