Audi Hungaria Motor Kft. told MTI on Friday that 2014 was its best year to date in Hungary. The German-owned company produced about 2 million engines and more than 135,000 cars at its factory in Győr. This represents an increase of 50,000 engines and a three-fold increase in the number of cars produced. Total employees grew by 900 from 10,400 to 11,300.
The factory supplied more than 8,800 engines every day to 32 vehicle factories owned by the Volkswagen group.
Last year Audi started to manufacture a new, third-generation Audi TT Coupe and TT Roadster series in addition to the A3 Sedan and the A3 Cabriolet models. Audi Hungaria Motor CEO Thomas Faustmann said the engine and vehicle production expanded as a result of the company’s “consistent implementation of strategy, and the highly motivated and well-trained staff work.” The Győr factory has the capacity to produce 160,000 cars per year.
With net revenues of HUF 1.74 trillion in 2013, Audi Hungaria is one of Hungary’s largest companies as well as one of its largest exporters.
