Tens of thousands demonstrated late into the night Wednesday, beginning with the “Heroes’ Veto” protest at Budapest’s Heroes’ Square. The demo was called in opposition to policies of the Fidesz government criticized as being hostile to civil society, most notably a bill submitted to the National Assembly last week that would stigmatize NGOs that receive foreign funding.
Budapest Beacon contributor Balázs Pivarnyik followed the demonstrations from dusk ’til dawn and prepared this photo report.
