September 11, 2015

Hungary is one step closer to having the Paks atomic energy plant expansion approved by the European Union, announced Minister Overseeing the Office of the Prime Minister János Lázár on Thursday.

Lázár said the European Commission recently notified the Hungarian government that it has approved contracts related to technical plans for the controversial expansion of the Paks nuclear reactor.

According to him, the Commission has found Hungary’s plans to be in accordance with Euratom’s regulations.

The minister said the government is now one step closer to ushering in an era of low energy prices for Hungarians.
