175 km of fence by November 30th
November 30, 2015, is 136 days away from today, July 16. This means the government will have to be build ~1.29 km of fence per day to complete its 175 km border fence by November 30, 2015.
How have we been doing so far?
The Hungarian military started construction of the 150 m “sample fence” on Monday. As of Tuesday (when the Budapest Beacon) visited the site, there was absolutely no fence anywhere to be seen anywhere. Crews on Tuesday were still working on clearing the site of brush for the 150 m “sample section”.
Minister Overseeing the Office of the Prime Minister János Lázár said Thursday that “sample section” of the fence actually consists of four border fence samples. The government will decide next week which sample fence design it will use by next Tuesday.
