According to Hungary’s official gazette, the Prime Minister accepted Göbölös’ resignation on the advice of Minister of the Interior Sándor Pintér, whose ministry is responsible for overseeing the agency’s activities.  Pintér had recommended Göbölös for the job, which he assumed on July 1, 2012, but was reportedly dissatisfied with his performance.

In early March HVG.hu reported that Göbölös had tendered his resignation. The Ministry of the Interior neither confirmed nor denied the report.
