Radical right-wing mayor hangs Peres, Netanyahu in effigy

Mihaly Zoltan Orosz, the radical right-wing mayor of Érpatak, north-eastern Hungary, led a demonstration on Sunday against what he called the “freemason media” that he said is conspiring to silence the ongoing “genocide” of the Israeli military against Hamas in Gaza.

Holding a paper Israeli flag with the Star of David replaced by a masonic compass, Orosz called the military offensive a modern-day “genocide just like the Holocaust they’re constantly blustering about in the media”.  Orosz said that while Hungarians are being forced to constantly remember the Holocaust during Hungary’s 2014 National Year of Remembrance, a Holocaust is taking place right now in Gaza.

After stomping on the fake Israeli flag, Orosz turned to a mocked-up gallows and effigies of the Israeli leadership. He declared that “we believe that the mildest sentence that can be given to them is to die a humiliating death by being hanged by the hangman’s noose, even though they deserve much worse than this. That’s why we have asked the executioner to carry out the death sentence against the leading war criminals Shimon Peres and Benjamin Netanyahu, the President and Prime Minister,” whereupon Orosz instructed the executioner to “carry out the sentence”.

“One day they will be held to account for their actions before God,” the mayor said. “They’re wrong to think that while they’ve taking over all of the financial and human resources, that they won’t be held accountable by God for their brutal crimes. They will be held to account for this genocide.  Both of these war criminals will be judged by God for all that they have done.

“Their troublemaking actions and false belief about being the ‘chosen people’ show that they are the Antichrist and are working to lay the groundwork for the Antichrist New World Order. They can do this work but we are not willing to participate in helping them. I just want you to know that they should be held accountable for these serious sins,” he said.

A sign hanging above the “body” of President Shimon Peres read:

I AM A WAR CRIMINAL, BASTARD GENOCIDER,  THAT’S WHY I GET MY RIGHTFUL PUNISHMENT, DEATH BY HANGING!  I AM GOING TO MY MASTER, TO SATAN, BECAUSE HELLFIRE AWAITS ME! SIMÓN PERESZ

After being elected mayor of Érpatak (population 1,855) in 2010, Mihaly Zoltan Orosz has become a nationally known figure, making public appearances in “traditional” Hungarian attire and calling himself a protector of traditional Hungarian values, most recently to protest the Budapest Pride parade in July. Claiming to be politically independent, he is, in fact, a far-right extremist. Elected mayor in 2010, Orosz introduced the  so-called Érpatak model, a set of regulations designed to impose civil obedience, order and security in Hungary’s rural communities. The model imposes punishing menial labor in the guise of community service on anyone convicted by rural courts or penalized by law enforcement. According to the model, small communities can use criminals to perform back-breaking labor normally reserved for heavy machinery, like breaking up rocks. In the process the community can practise fiscal discipline while ensuring respect for the rule of law, according to Orosz.
