Effective December 21, RTL Klub news crews will be allowed to enter parliament after a month-long ban, reports Mandiner.hu.
The decision to ban RTL Klub’s reporters was made by Parliament President Laszló Kövér in November after an RTL film crew was denied access to a joint press conference held by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán and NATO secretary general Jens Stoltenberg. Bertalan Havasi, the Prime Minister’s press officer, prevented the RTL Klub news crew from attending the event. The resulting altercation was captured by RTL Klub cameras, and the footage was broadcast that day as part of a story about RTL being barred. Kövér subsequently banned RTL Klub from parliament because their crew had allegedly been recording in a forbidden area.
According to Mandiner, RTL Klub’s news crew will be allowed back on the parliament’s premises beginning December 21.
The website says the RTL Klub news chief was informed last week that the ban would only last a month.
